Direct Primary Care is a Smart Money Move!

Direct Primary Care is Number 4 in the Top 5 Smart Money Moves for 2019 by Consumer Reports!

From the article:

DPC services can be cost-effective and convenient for people with chronic health problems that need close monitoring, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension.

Stats from the article:

  • There are more than 900 DPC practices across 48 states and Washington, D.C. (273 practices in 2015)
  • Estimated patient base of 500,000

DPC practices generally encourage you to pair your membership with an insurance plan—usually a low-premium, high-deductible policy—to cover things such as inpatient hospital care and emergency services.

Antibiotics Can Cause Adverse Reactions

Before using antibiotics, weigh the risks and benefits carefully.

Every year, 70,000 kids go to the ER over adverse reactions to antibiotics. The biggest culprits are amoxicillin (up to age 9) and smx/tmp (10-19yo). These are the antibiotics used for ear infections, skin infections, and upper respiratory infections.

Adverse reactions commonly include allergic reactions. These result in symptoms such as a rash, itching or severe swelling beneath the skin. The reactions are more common in younger and more severe as well, especially in those less than 2 year old.

Have a conversation with your doctor before any antibiotic use.
